It’s time for Fall! Here are some reminders and fun events coming this October.
Municipal Offices Will Be Closed on October 9th.
Union County Recycling Events
Union County will be holding a Mobile Paper Shredding event on Saturday, October 7th and October 21st. A Household Hazardous Waste event on Saturday October 28th. And the County will be holding Scrap Metal Drop Off events on October 5th and October 21st. For more information, including times and locations check out the Union County Recycling page.
Zumba with Amy Lauren at the Chisholm Center
The last class for the fall season of Zumba with Amy Lauren is October 25! Classes for adults are held on Wednesdays at 7:00-8:00 pm at the Chisholm Community Center (2nd floor fitness studio), hosted by the Springfield Recreation Department. Fall Festival and Car Show
The Springfield Patriot Chamber of Commerce’s Fall Festival and Car Show will be held on Sunday, October 15th from 11 am to 5pm. It will be at 100 Mountain Ave. Admission is free as always, there will be live music, an inflatable kids zone, plenty of food trucks, vendors, and a beer garden which is sponsored by Nissan City of Springfield. Other sponsors of the event are Autoland, Keller Williams, The Leafy Basket, Connect One Bank, Regal Bank, Garden Communities, Performance Mazda, and the Metropolitan.
Springfield Environmental Commission Quarry Walk
The Springfield Environmental Commission is having their Fall Quarry Walk on October 22 at 12pm. Anyone attending is asked to arrive at 11:45 am and meet at the Houdaille Quarry entrance at Mountview Road. For more information check their Facebook page.
Recreation Department Halloween Spooktacular
The Springfield Recreation Department will be hosting their Halloween Spooktacular again this year on Sunday, October 29th. More information to come.
Last Month for Farmers Market
The Springfield Farmers Market operates every Monday at the Springfield Free Public Library. The last day for the market is October 30th. Residents can buy fresh fruit, vegetables, baked goods, and organic products from the vendors; Alstede Farms, Unique Snacks of America, the Empanada Truck, and Petite Baguette.
