Updates from the Township Committee Meeting held on July 14, 2026. 

DPW
  

  • Recycling 
    • Plastics bags are not permitted in recycling cans. Cans with plastic bags will not be picked up. The reason being; the recycling gets put on a belt and goes through a machine but the plastic bags get caught in the machine and then have to be manually removed by someone. 
    • Please put recycling out in a can with a lid to prevent it from blowing away. 
  • Recycling Center: Despite our best efforts to publicly notify residents about acceptable materials, we are still finding illegal dumping on a regular basis. We want residents to understand that the center is under surveillance 24/7 and that illegal dumping no matter how small is being prosecuted.

Other Updates: July 3rd Storm
   

  • July 3rd Storm: (with the exception of streets closed due to downed wires)
    • DPW had all other township roads completely open within twenty hours. 
    • Removed all hanging branches and repaired all roadside trees within 48 hours.  
    • Lost only 4 trees in the storm.
    • About half way through the  13 parks; cleaning debris and checking for any other aerial tree damage.  
    • There was no damage to public property or any township equipment related to the storm.
  • DPW crews are actively canvassing the town to collect storm debris. 
    • Guidelines for collection:
      • Collection is limited to storm damage debris only.
      • Debris must not exceed 5 feet in length or 10 inches in diameter.
      • Debris resulting from contractor work will not be collected; disposal remains the contractor’s responsibility.
      • All debris must be placed at the curb no later than Sunday, July 19th
      • DPW began canvassing the town on July 7th with no set schedule for specific areas.
      • Brush placed at the curb after July 19th will not be collected.
      • Remember to keep debris as far away from storm inlets as possible.
