Here are some important reminders as we reach the end of October.
- Residents can begin placing leaves out onto the curb; either loose or in biodegradable bags. Leaf collection will start on November 1st. No sticks or branches will be collected with leaves. We ask that residents avoid placing leaves within 10 feet of any storm drain to minimize flooding. Collection will end the week of December 31st.
- The Department of Public Works will conduct a town-wide Brush Pickup alongside the start of leaf collection. DPW will make only one pass through the entire township. For more information check out this previous post.
- The last day for the fall season of Zumba with Amy Lauren is October 25th. The class runs from 7pm to 8pm. Check out this post for all the information.
- The Springfield Recreation Department’s annual Halloween Spooktacular is on Sunday, October 29th, from 1:00-2:30 pm, at Chisholm Park (rain location: Chisholm Community Center). The event is free to attend, there will be a costume contest, Glazed & Confused Donuts Truck, a magician, and a DJ. Pre-registration is required on Community Pass at https://register.communitypass.net/springfield. For more information click the link for our post about the event.
- The last day for the Springfield Farmers Market is next week, October 30th. Make sure to stop by for fresh fruits, vegetables, baked goods, and more from our vendors; Alstede Farms, Unique Snacks of America, the Empanada Truck, and Petite Baguette. - Flu Clinic will be held on Thursday, November 2nd. From 4pm to 6pm at the Chisholm Center. Pre-registration is strongly encouraged. Please call this number with any questions, 908-851-8507.
- Union County is holding a special recycling event called Beyond the Bin on Saturday, November 4th from 9am to 1pm at at the Union County Vocational Technical School in Scotch Plains. For more information, including times and locations check out the Union County Recycling page.
- The next Springfield Community Cleanup is Sunday, November 5th from 11am to 2pm. They will be cleaning Laurel Park, Patriot Park & trails, Riverside, and Joanne Way. For more information, visit the Springfield Environmental Commission’s Facebook page.
- General Election Day, Tuesday, November 7, 2023. Non-essential municipal offices are closed. The Clerk’s Office will remain open for the entirety of the day for election purposes.
- Municipal offices will be closed on Friday, November 10th.
- The Township’s Veterans Day Ceremony is Saturday, November 11, 2023. It will start at 11am at Veterans Memorial Park.
