Tuesday night was Springfield’s National Night Out and tons of residents turned out for food and fun. The event was a community building campaign for residents to get out and meet the Springfield Police, Fire, EMS and OEM. This event also gave residents the chance to get up close with the vehicles from these groups including DPW vehicles. Additionally there was some fun free swag from the event vendors; Shoprite, Regal Bank, USA Karate & Fitness, Springfield PBA Local, Springfield First Aid Squad, and the Union County Prosecutor’s Office.
An inflatable obstacle course and bounce houses were set up for the kids who lined up for their turn inside. Event goers also got to enjoy food and refreshments provided by food trucks; Taxi Cab Burger, The Chippery, Kona Ice, Ice Cream Creations, Mr Cooper’s Funneland, Angry Archies, The Arctic Dog, IL Forno A Legna Pizza and more.
The band Twice Heard, made up of members Abbie, Max, Anthony, Kane, and Jamie, performed live for everyone all night. The band started the night with their rendition of Pat Benatar’s Hit Me With Your Best Shot. Their setlist included Pat Benatar’s Heartbreaker, Guns N’ Roses’ Welcome to The Jungle, Blink-182’s Carousel, and more.
