Good morning Springfield,
The 36 hours have been heartbreaking to say the least. Our Emergency services have been working non-stop. The sun is now out and we are all faced with the daunting job of restoration of our properties and our town.
Our DPW Department has been working day and night throughout the storm. They will now be working tirelessly to get our town back to where it was before Tropical Storm Ida.
Department head Robert Boettcher and all our dedicated DPW staff are the best around. Please be mindful that certain routines around town may be taking a backseat to clean up. With all that the DPW currently does, they now have the difficult task Ida has left behind.
Please place all damaged items and materials curbside for bulk pickup. It is estimated that pickup will be in a week. The disposal company is unable to commit to a pickup date right now.
Thank you for your understanding on this. We will be working for everyone day and night.
Stay safe,
Mayor Chris Weber
