On April 10th Municipal Court Judge Rosenbluth finalized the testimony and evidence in the trial concerning the December 2021 Summonses against Springfield Center Urban Renewal. A decision should be forthcoming in the near future.
Also on April 10th, our Township Construction Official issued a Notice of Unsafe Structure concerning the hairstylist building which is part of the development site. This Notice requires the property owner to remove the structure or attempt to make it safe.
Last week, our Township Zoning Official issued a notice to remove various debris from the site. If the debris is not immediately removed, a new summons may be issued against the property owner.
The Township has determined to retain a construction expert, Bill Costello of Epic Management. Mr. Costello toured the site on April 10th along with other Township officials.
On April 10th, OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) was at the site to inspect worker safety protocols and open areas.
The Township has contacted JCP&L to check the safety of a utility pole which is on Morris Avenue immediately adjacent to the site. We are hopeful that they will be on scene within the next few days.
The State has apparently issued a notice concerning asbestos abatement from the structure remaining on the site.
The Township intends to continue, to do weekly and daily inspections. demanded a construction phasing plan.
