During last week’s Township Committee meeting some First Aid Squad Officers were sworn in by Mayor Chris Weber. The Springfield First Aid Squad was established in 1949 and has since been providing emergency medical services to the residents of Springfield. The squad is made up of volunteers who are interested in helping better the community.
“You don’t realize what’s happening until you need somebody. Next thing you know it’s 11:30 at night and I got an issue at my house, you guys show up instantly. You took a situation that could have been pretty bad – after a few minutes transport to the hospital, everybody’s okay. That could have changed the entire dynamic of my family, it’s a big deal. We don’t know to thank you guys truthfully because what you do as volunteer work, you see a lot of stuff – you take it home with you every night. – From the Township, we just thank you – we can’t function without you and we know you are the most valuable service to our residents.”
-Mayor Chris Weber
“Congratulations to everybody. Thank you for all your service. To the new EMTs, good luck! A lot of us in the community will rely on you and you’re certainly not doing it for money or glory but out of sense of service to your fellow neighbors so thank you.”
-Committeeman Alex Keiser
