Yesterday, the band Distortion performed on the Town Hall Lawn as part of the Summer Concert Series sponsored by the Springfield Business Improvement District. The event was held to thank all the residents for their support to local businesses. Many showed up with chairs and blankets to sit, enjoy the music, and some ice cream. There was free ice cream provided by Scream Truck sponsored by the Springfield BID.
The concert started at 6pm, the band made up of members; Alex, Colin, Jake, Jamie, and Nolan (pictured below left to right), started with their rendition of Pink Floyd’s In the Flesh. Their set list consisted of White Room by Cream, Hot for Teacher by Van Halen, Creedence Clearwater Revival’s Have You Ever Seen The Rain, and many more.
Around 6:20 pm is when the rain started but that didn’t stop the fun. Residents were completely unbothered by the small amount of rain and made no moves to leave the concert. Luckily EMS saved the day with a canopy for the band to play under and they helped move the equipment inside. After the canopy was set up the band was ready to continue. Distortion put on a great performance for everyone until 8pm. Residents ate ice cream, danced along to the music, and enjoyed a nice cool summer night.
Also during the event, Mike Scalera of the Springfield BID handed out tickets to concert goers and 4 gift certificates were given to residents with winning tickets picked by Mayor Alex Keiser.
Remember this was the 1st of 2 concerts. The next concert will be in a few weeks on August 25th, more information and reminders will be posted closer to that date.
