Springfield Celebrates Pride Month 2026
The Township of Springfield kicked off Pride Month with a ceremony and movie in Chisholm Park on Friday, May 29. The 8th annual event included a rainbow flag raising; “Wicked” on a big screen; treats and drinks from Halo Roasters; popcorn and rainbow ice pops from the Springfield Recreation Department; musical performances by the Jonathan Dayton High School All Stars and Front & Center for Performing Arts; student speaker Alvaro Benevides; greetings and proclamation by Mayor Harris Laufer; remarks by Union County Commissioner Rebecca Williams and State Assemblyman Vincent Kearney; greetings by Director of Recreation Adam Lieb, Assistant Director of Recreation Brendan O’Reilly, and Recreation Program Coordinators Erica DuBois, Ilene Wilkenfeld, and Samaar Nelson; and give-aways of Pride swag from the Springfield Recreation Department and the Jonathan Dayton High School G.S.A.
