On Sunday, April 24, 2023, the Township of Springfield dedicated the senior citizens meeting room at the Chisholm Community Center in honor of Margaret Bandrowski, former Township Committeewoman and Deputy Mayor. Opening the ceremony, Mayor Chris Capodice welcomed Township officials, residents, and friends and family of Margaret. Township Committeeman Chris Weber followed by reading the official proclamation. After the unveiling of the permanent lettering dedicating the space, Margaret shared her thanks to the Township and reflected on her years of involvement with the senior citizens community. Guests were then treated to lunch, drinks, and a special cake in honor of Margaret. Other Township officials in attendance included: Deputy Mayor Alex Keiser, Township Committeeman Richard Huber, Township Committeeman Harris Laufer, Township Administrator John Bussiculo, Police Chief John Cook, Township Clerk Linda Donnelly, Director of Recreation Adam Lieb, Springfield Patriot Chamber of Commerce Co-Chairman Mike Scalera, Library Director Dale Spindel, Library Assistant Director Bonnie Lafazan, Environmental Commission Chairwoman Allison Miller, Green Team Coordinator Betzy Blondet, Office of Emergency Management Deputy Coordinator Apu Mullick, Springfield Historical Society President Linda Jurczak, and Springfield Senior Citizens Club President Imelda Murray, as well as former Mayor Edward Fanning, former Mayor Erica DuBois, former Union County Commissioner Bruce Bergen, and Springfield Recreation Department staff. A lifelong resident of Springfield, Margaret served on the Township Committee, Planning Board, Board of Adjustment, Development Review Committee, Rent Leveling Board, Patriot Chamber of Commerce, Board of Health, Battle of Springfield 225th Anniversary Committee, Environmental Commission, Green Team, Springfield Historical Society, Springfield Senior Citizens Club, Springfield Free Public Library’s Donald B. Palmer Museum historical collection, Springfield Helping Seniors, and Springfield emergency relief.
