The Township of Springfield kicked off Pride Month with a celebratory event outside the Chisholm Community Center on a warm and sunny Friday afternoon, May 31, 2024. The 6th annual program included a rainbow flag raising; DJ music by Summit Soundz; informational tables and treats by Halo Roasters, Elvira Chaush New York Life Insurance, Fidelis Care, Pride Center of New Jersey, Edge NJ, Jonathan Dayton High School G.S.A., and Springfield Unity Project; Edge NJ Star Spangled Banner sung by Eila Francis; student speakers Isabella Elan and Lana Vincente; performance by Jonathan Dayton High School All Stars; greetings and proclamation by Mayor Chris Weber; remarks by Union County Commissioner Rebecca Williams, Director of Recreation Adam Lieb, Assistant Director of Recreation Brendan O’Reilly, and Recreation Program Coordinator Erica DuBois; children’s crafts; rainbow ice pops; and Pride bracelets, stickers, flags, and lei give-aways.
