Here are some important reminders as we reach the end of October.

Today residents can begin placing leaves out onto the curb; either loose or in biodegradable bags. Leaf collection will start next week on October 31st. We ask that residents avoid placing leaves within 10 feet of any storm drain to minimize flooding. Collection will end December 31st.

The Springfield Recreation Department’s annual Halloween Spooktacular is on Sunday, October 30, 2022, from 1:00-2:30 pm, at Chisholm Park (rain location: Chisholm Community Center). The event is free to attend, there will be a costume contest, Donut Food Truck, a magician, a DJ, and a photo ring. The last day for the Springfield Farmers Market is next week, October 31st. Make sure to stop by for fresh fruits, vegetables, baked goods, and more from our vendors; Alstede Farms and Unique Snacks of America. Alstede Farms is located in Chester, NJ and is open to the public. They currently have Farm to Table Pumpkin Pancake Breakfast, Harvest Moon Hayrides, and pumpkin picking events for the fall season. Unique Snacks is owned by couple Martin and Rachel, they sell all natural products made by small businesses from all across the country. Right now they have new products for residents to check out such as dried pineapples and honeys infused with ginger, cinnamon, or lemon. Residents are encouraged to come out and support our vendors on the last day of the market.

Election Day is November 8th; the polls will be open from 6am to 8pm. Non-essential municipal offices are closed. The Clerk’s Office will remain open for the entirety of the day for election purposes.
