This Friday, November 11th is Veteran’s Day. It is a federal holiday in the United States observed annually on November 11, for honoring military veterans of the United States Armed Forces (Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force, Space Force, Coast Guard, and National Guard). It coincides with other holidays including Armistice Day and Remembrance Day which are celebrated in other countries that mark the anniversary of the end of World War I.
The Township of Springfield will honor and celebrate the service of our Veterans with an observance ceremony. Residents are encouraged to come out and thank our veterans for the sacrifices they have made and the dedication they have shown to defending our country. This ceremony will also honor those we have lost. The ceremony will start at 11 a.m. and be held at Veterans Memorial Park.
Attendees will also get the chance to see the brass plague that was cleaned by DPW and remounted last week. The Springfield Public Works Department works hard to keep the park clean and set it up for the Veteran’s Day Ceremony (and for the Memorial Day event). Donations are still being accepted by the Township to help with upkeep and improve Veterans Memorial Park. See the poster below for all the information.
Please remember that Townhall will also be closed this Friday in observance of the holiday. And check out Townhall which is illuminated with green lights as a part of Operation Green Light, the lights will be up until November 13th to honor our veterans.
