During last week’s (Jan.24th) Township Committee meeting, the committee approved Resolution 2023-55 which authorizes the termination of the Interlocal Agreement with the Township of Bloomfield for local public health services.
The Board of Health and the Township are “looking for some different, more robust services – looking as a township to save on funds, improve costs, lower costs, and we feel that this is something that we can do to start talking to other entities about a better improved robust service for perhaps a lower cost.”
Mayor Chris Capodice
With the passing of this resolution Bloomfield has been given a 6 month notice that the Township of Springfield is considering ceasing its partnership, as per the contract. This gives the Township 6 months to talk to different organizations to find the best option for Springfield, one with adequate services and best economical cost. The goal is to find the best services for the Board of Health and Township residents.
“I feel very confident that we can find another entity that will offer more robust services at a more economical price. I have no doubt that we can find somebody within six months.”
Mayor Chris Capodice
Important updates will be shared with the Township when the time comes.
