During last week’s Township Committee meeting some First Aid Squad Officers were sworn in by Mayor Chris Capodice. The Springfield First Aid Squad was established in 1949 and has since been providing emergency medical services to the residents of Springfield. The squad is made up of volunteers who are interested in helping better the community.
“I want to thank all you guys for everything that you do, the fact that the majority of you are volunteers is just astounding. – We should never take for granted the work you do and the commitment that all of you have in our Township is really appreciated by all of us up here. Thank you for all the time you put in, all the effort you put in and the care you take when you’re out on calls because I’ve spoken to many people who are very appreciative of experiences they’ve had with many of you.”

Squad President Elizabeth J. Fritzen called up the members to be sworn in. Vice President Samantha Knee, Corresponding Secretary Megan Klein, Chief Apu Mullick, Training Officer/2nd Lieutenant Jeffrey Shanes, and House Committee Rachel Valle were all present for the swearing in ceremony.
Members who have graduated from the Training Program and members who passed examinations now being promoted to crew chief were also acknowledged and honored.
“These are our members, these are volunteers that put so much time into what we do to be there for the residents of Springfield. I thank them and I thank you all for your support and we appreciate tonight very much for recognizing our volunteers.”
