This year, September 11th marks the 20th anniversary of the horrific attacks on our Country and of all of the innocent lives lost, as well as the changing of all of our lives forever. We will be holding a solemn event
where members of Springfield’s Emergency Services Units will be called to attention and then salute our Flag at 8:46 AM and again at 9:03 AM, the times that the North and then South Towers were struck, as a bell is tolled five times in honor of all those who had made the ultimate sacrifice that day, and also for those who have since lost their lives from other effects received that day while performing their service to the public, for whom they took an oath to preserve life and property, to conserve life and alleviate suffering, and to serve and protect.
We will also be remembering and honoring Springfield residents Lee Adler and JoAnn L. Heltibridle, who were among those innocent victims who perished at the World Trade Center, with a presentation of a wreath in honor of them at Patriot Park.
We will be gathering on the front lawn of Town Hall at approximately 8:30 AM. All are welcome and we thank you for sharing in this time with us. Let us never forget.
