This weekend a cleanup was held at Rahway River (behind Laurel Park) in Springfield.
Let by AmeriCorps Ambassador Marisa Immordino with Trailblazer Troop 40390 in conjunction with Springfield Environmental Commission/Green Team, 20 Girl Scouts and adults from the Girl Scouts Heart of NJ. They lugged not only 14+ bags of litter that were damaging the environment in the watershed area, but also extricated a large toy car, runaway recycling container, an old sign, and other large debris.
As a specialty Trailblazer Troop, Troop 40390 is focused on outdoor experiences including environmental stewardship activities such as this and they hope to continue to activities such as this in the future. We are very proud of these girls of courage, confidence and character who work to make the world a better place!
