The Senior Citizens Club meets every week to play bingo at the Chisholm Center, but yesterday’s meeting included some special guests. About 40 Springfield residents sat together and enjoyed some croissants while Public Information Officer Tamara Vega and Township Administrator John Bussiculo made their presentations.
Senior Citizens Club President Margaret Bandrowki started the meeting with the pledge of allegiance, a prayer, and the club’s agenda notes.
Miss Vega showed club members the Township website homepage while explaining how to get on the site and navigate it. Seniors were informed of the features of the website such as paying taxes, or tickets, and signing up to get emergency alerts. The Group was also shown how to get to the town’s Facebook page to watch the Township Committee meetings. Copies of the township directory were also passed around to the seniors, to make communication easier.
Mr. Bussiculo shared with the club some important updates. He spoke about the new recording system for Township meetings, the library repairs and answered any questions about the recent revaluations. The Blacks Lane and Church Mall redevelopment plans were discussed and visuals of what the development will look like when completed were shown to everyone. It was very informative for the club members especially who have not seen the previous township committee meetings.
Through these presentations the senior citizens were reminded of the services available to them through the township and its website.
