Attention Residents,
The ParkMobile app is active in parts of Springfield and will soon be implemented in Springfield parking lots and streets.
The app is a payment system in which drivers can pay for parking using their phones. With this new system, a driver can extend their parking time without returning to their vehicle to put more money into a meter.
Many surrounding towns utilize ParkMobile and the hope is that people traveling through Springfield will already have the app making it easier to park. Summit, Union, South Orange, Newark, Elizabeth and Roselle Park all currently use ParkMobile.
Using a parking application also benefits the Township since personnel will not have to service parking meters, make collections or bank deposits; and will not have to worry about maintenance charges and other issues with the parking meters.
Right now, ParkMobile is active in Lot 1 (old DMV lot) and Lot 2 (Duffy’s Corner lot). Soon it will be added to Morris Avenue, on-street parking between Caldwell Place and Mountain Avenue, Church Mall on-street parking, and Mountain Avenue on-street parking between Hannah St. and Wabeno Ave.
