Congratulations to Detective Lieutenant Mirable and Lieutenant Westover who were promoted during last week’s (Nov.9) Township Committee meeting. The promotion ceremony was presided over by Springfield Chief of Police John Cook and Mayor Chris Weber. Both were accompanied by their families for the ceremony.
James Mirable who has been with the department since 2005 was promoted from Detective Sergeant to Detective Lieutenant.
- Started at the Springfield Police Department as a Patrol officer and made his way to field training officer.
- In 2009, was assigned to the Union County Prosecutor’s Office Narcotics Strike Force.
- In 2010, he became one of the police department’s firearms instructors.
- Assigned as an Investigator in 2012.
- Assigned to Union County Emergency Response Team in April 2013.
- Promoted to Detective in 2014, promoted to Sergeant in 2017, and then Detective Sergeant in 2020.
Ryan Westover, has been with the department since 2010 was promoted from Sergeant to Lieutenant.
- Hired in 2010 as a police officer, after graduating from Somerset County Police Academy. Had previously served as Auxiliary Police Officer and Police Dispatcher for Edison and Piscataway Police Departments.
- Assigned to Patrol in 2010 to 2016, then assigned to the Traffic/Special Services Unit.
- Became a DARE instructor in 2011 and taught 5th grade classrooms.
- Promoted to Sergeant in 2017.
- Appointed as Deputy Coordinator with the Springfield Office of Emergency Management in 2020.
