On or about Monday, March 2nd, Jersey Central Power & Light will continue work on an important reliability project in Springfield. This project will create redundancy on circuits serving over 3,000 customers and is a significant investment in Springfield. The project involves tying two circuits together out of the Fadem Road and Waverly substations. The project is expected to take two weeks, weather permitting. In the event of an outage, crews will be able to switch customers to the unaffected circuit while repairs are made, thereby greatly reducing the duration of an outage when one circuit is affected. Verizon crews replaced poles on Hillside Avenue, Tree Top Drive, and Skylark Road in preparation for this project. To ensure the safety of the crews, pedestrians, and the public, Hillside Avenue will be a one-way street for traffic, which will be diverted up Kipling Avenue and back to Hillside Avenue via Irwin Street. JCP&L extends their appreciation for the understanding of the residents of Springfield as they continue to make reliability improvements to benefit customers and communities.
