PUBLIC NOTICE
Notice is hereby given that Applications are being accepted for the position of Probationary Career Firefighter with the Springfield Fire Department. Applications may be obtained STARTING Monday, September 8, 2025, from Springfield Fire Headquarters, 200 Mountain Avenue, Springfield NJ 07081, with a RETURN DATE of NO LATER than Friday, September 12, 2025. The Applications can be picked up and returned between 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
Applications will not be mailed but must be picked up in person by the Applicant only. A non-refundable Application Fee of $50.00 (only by check or money order) payable to the “The Township of Springfield” shall be paid at the time the Application is completed and returned in person to Springfield Fire Headquarters.
Applicants shall be between the ages of 21 – 35 and will be required to provide proof of a valid NJ Driver’s License when picking up the Application.
Copies of the following documents are required to be provided with your completed Application:
- NJ Division of Fire Safety Firefighter 1 Certification (must be obtained through the State Division of Fire Safety)
- A Valid NJ Driver’s License
- High School Diploma or GED
- Copy of Birth Certificate
Please note, Applications not containing the proper fee and required documents, will be deemed INCOMPLETE and not accepted.
** All completed applicants will participate in a Written Examination to be held at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday October 4, 2025. All passing candidates will then proceed to a Physical Agility Test to be held on Saturday, October 18, 2025.**
