A major winter storm is expected to impact the Northeast, with a Winter Storm Watch in effect from late Saturday night through Monday afternoon. Steady snow is expected to intensify on Sunday, with the heaviest impacts occurring in the afternoon and evening before tapering off Sunday night.
In preparation, pre-salting operations will begin prior to the storm, followed by plowing operations. Public Works is equipped to cover every zone simultaneously with several plows in each zone throughout the duration of the event. Please be advised that standard operating procedure is to clear through-streets first to ensure unimpeded paths for emergency services before moving into interior streets.Â
Please be advised of the following public safety guidelines regarding snow events:
On-Street Parking:Â Township ordinance prohibits parking on any street once it becomes snow-covered. This remains in effect until the snow has stopped and the street has been fully plowed.Â
Snow Removal:Â Residents and contractors are prohibited from shoveling, snow blowing, or plowing snow into the roadway. This creates hazardous conditions due to refreezing.
Adhering to these measures helps keep our roadways safer for everyone. For non-emergency information, please contact the Department of Public Works at 973-912-2225.
Thank you for your cooperation and stay safe!
