Updates from the Township Committee Meeting held on March 10, 2026.

DPW

Recycling
- Plastics bags are not permitted in recycling cans. Cans with plastic bags will not be picked up. The reason being; the recycling gets put on a belt and goes through a machine but the plastic bags get caught in the machine and then have to be manually removed by someone.
- Please put recycling out in a can with a lid to prevent it from blowing away.
Now that the warmer weather is here DPW has begun:
- Making repairs on the plows and spreaders before storing them.
- Washing the salt off the trucks.
- The street sweeper has begun canvassing the town.
- We started cleanup in some of the parks, beginning with all the tennis courts.
Some crews are filling potholes caused by the heavy plowing and harsh winter.
The township will reach out American Water regarding road repairs from the fourteen water main breaks over the winter months.
The County and State offices have been contacted to begin coordinating the removal of the blockage in the Rahway River.
Bulk Pick Up will be March 18th.
- Requirements; what is and is not allowed will be on the township website closer to pick up date.

Other Updates

Oakland Park
- Three companies have been contacted, they are currently doing drawings/plans and will come up with recommendations and pricing.

Developments

Gomes
White building on the corner of Mountain & Morris
- The building will be appraised and see how much it is worth
Duffy’s lot
- Work is still being done.
- Permit fee has been sent over, the final drawings and details, permit plans and reports should be ready within 2 weeks.
