DPW

Recycling Update
- The new 2025 Recycling Schedule is up on the website now.
- Plastics bags are not permitted in recycling cans. Cans with plastic bags will not be picked up. The reason being; the recycling gets put on a belt and goes through a machine but the plastic bags get caught in the machine and then have to be manually removed by someone.
- Please put recycling out in a can with a lid to prevent it from blowing away.
Garbage Pick Up for December 25th has been moved to Saturday, December 27th.
Recycling Pick Up for December 25th has been moved to Friday, December 26th.
Leaf Season
- Leaf collection resumed today following a brief interruption from the snow on Sunday.
- Crews returned to zone # 6 to finish where they left off on Friday before moving into zones 3 and 4, later this week.
- The collection zones are posted on the town website and Facebook.
- Piles with brush or any other unacceptable material are passed over leaving a letter at the address to remove the debris and the piles will be collected on the next round
- Piles should be a minimum of twenty feet from any storm drain.
- Collection runs through December 31. As always DPW has no particular schedule other than several crews canvassing the township on a daily basis

Other Updates: Snow Storms

Sunday’s storm produced approximately five inches of accumulation which involved salting & plowing of the entire township followed by cleaning of all township sidewalks.
SOP ” Standard Operating Procedures” on any weather event begins with pre-salting of the entire Township prioritizing hills, sharp curves, intersections, bridges and stop signs before moving onto all major through streets and then all our interior roads.
Plowing Operations:
- Plowing usually begins when accumulations reach 2″ dispatching two plows into every zone.
- Zone plowing begins with all major through streets first before plowing the interior roads.
- Depending on the duration of the snow fall zones may need to be revisited several times for plowing.
- Once the town is completely open, some crews begin plowing all our parking lots while other crews begin shoveling and salting all township owned sidewalks, buildings, bus stops, school zones and crossing guard post etc.
Our salting operations are active throughout the entire duration of the event. We typically focus more aggressive application immediately before and after each storm to ensure complete coverage of the township.
Emergency response is handled based on the nature of the call, typically under the direction of the Police or Fire Department.
