Springfield Awarded Grant to Support Lacrosse Program

The Township of Springfield is proud to announce that the Springfield Recreation Department, in partnership with the Lacrosse Club of Springfield, has been awarded a Soft-Stick Equipment Grant sponsored by U.S. Lacrosse. The grant provides 15 blue soft lacrosse sticks, 15 red soft lacrosse sticks, 30 orange soft lacrosse balls, one copy of the U.S. Lacrosse Physical Education Curriculum Guide and Reproducible Packet, and one copy of the US Lacrosse Teaching Soft-Stick Lacrosse DVD – a video-based workshop for recreational program leaders. The goal of the grant award is to help promote lacrosse to the youngest children of Springfield, teach them basic skills, and help educate coaches about the fast-growing sport. “Our pre-k through 1st grade lacrosse clinics, held several seasons per year, each attracting around 30 youngsters, will greatly benefit from this grant award,” said Adam Lieb, Director of Recreation, and Jeff Kaesshaefer, President of the Lacrosse Club of Springfield.
