Employment Opportunity: Chief Financial Officer

CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER  ̶  Township of Springfield in Union County.  The incumbent CFO is retiring.  The Township is a stable, historic community dating to the American Revolution and the important Battle of Springfield that operates under the Township Committee form of government. A highly desirable residential community with a steadily growing population and tax base, Springfield has a land area of five square miles, a population of 17,000, and a highly regarded school system. The municipality has stable finances with an AA+ bond rating.  The municipal budget totals $31+ million, plus swimming pool utility, in support of a full range of services to the community. This position requires certification from the State of NJ as a Certified Municipal Finance Officer (CMFO) and relevant experience in the management of municipal finances. Experience with municipal utility finances is a plus, but not required. With a change in financial leadership, the Township will be looking for a CFO who can evaluate all aspects of current financial operations and provide advice on recommended changes, improvements, reorganization, etc. In addition to the required financial skills, good communications and interpersonal skills are important for this position.
