Community Invited to 2017 Memorial Day Ceremony & Parade

NOTICE: Due to inclement weather, the ceremony will be held indoors at the Chisholm Community Center.

Help make Springfield’s annual Memorial Day program a truly special occasion. On Monday, May 29th, a ceremony to honor the fallen and salute the brave will begin at 10 a.m. at Veterans Memorial Park (corner of Shunpike Road and Mountain Avenue). Young and old will be called upon for a group sing-a-long of patriotic music. A parade of veterans, community organizations, and civic groups will march down Mountain Avenue to Jonathan Dayton High School. If your group or business would like to participate or sponsor a float, contact Township Committeewoman & Coordinator Geri Bujnowski (geri.bujnowski@springfield-nj.us). At the high school, the Springfield-Hillside Elks are hosting a picnic with free hot dogs and drinks for all. Enjoy your snack while watching a baseball exhibition game on the field starting at 11 a.m. Don’t forget to bring your bathing suits so you can head over to the Community Pool for a swim on opening day!
