Springfield Farmers Market Announces 2017 Season Finale with Music and Giveaways

At the end of October, the Township of Springfield will wrap up another successful season of the Farmer’s Market located in front of the Library (66 Mountain Avenue).

On Monday, October 23rd and October 30th, enjoy live folk music by Matthew Runciman from 2 – 5 p.m. both days.

Come take advantage of your last chance to purchase delicious, fresh fruits and vegetables from our farmers, Country Stand Farms and Marchese Farms.  Pick up something from our Unique Snacks stand and don’t forget to save room for some delicious bites from the El Lechon de Negron food truck. The market hours are 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.  As an added bonus, receive a free pumpkin with any purchase (while supplies last). We look forward to seeing you at the Market Finale!

For the 2017 season, the Township made a greater effort to improve the farmers market and bring it back to the glory days. The Farmers Market coordinator, Maryellen Brennan, worked very hard on developing and implementing new strategies.

A new location was selected that takes advantage of the MVC patrons, parking, and creates a symbiotic relationship between patrons of the library and farmers market. This has helped attract more vendors. We’ve purchased new signage and marketing material to increase visibility. We’ve helped spread the word through social media and partners.  All of this has been done with a very modest budget. Vendors are happy with the improved business which has helped our reputation in their network which will allow us to do even better next year.
